INGALLS, Ind.–A train and a car collided in Ingalls Wednesday night resulting in the death of an Indianapolis woman. 

The Madison County Sheriff’s Department says the crash happened around 8:45 pm at N. Alfonte Street and SR 67. 

The woman was driving south on N. Alfonte. When she got to the railroad tracks, she drove around the railroad crossing arm and got stuck on the tracks. Witnesses told police that she got out of her car and tried to get off the tracks, but the train hit her and her car. 

She was pronounced dead at the scene. Her name is not being given out yet. 

She was 30 years old.
