INDIANAPOLIS — One person was killed Friday morning in a crash on the city’s southeast side.
The accident happened just before 5 a.m. at Emerson Avenue and I-465, near Beech Grove.
Indy Metro Police say a silver Nissan traveling east on I-465 got off at the Emerson Ave. exit, went off the road, became airborne, and smashed into a red GMC pickup truck that was stopped at a red light.
The driver of the red pickup truck died at the scene. His name will be made available once his family has been notified.
The man driving the Nissan was taken to Eskenazi Hospital with several injuries. Police believe he was driving drunk.
All roads closed by the accident have reopened.
