INDIANAPOLIS — Diving crews found the body of a fisherman who fell into Eagle Creek Friday morning.

The fisherman fell into the water at around 7 p.m. Thursday in the 8500 block of West 34th Street.

Authorities say the man was fishing from the creek bank and fell into the water. The man was found close to where he fell in at about 10:10 a.m., authorities say.

Family members have identified the man as Hniang Chung, 35.

“Right now, we feel really upset because he is part of our family,” Chung’s son-in-law, Eric Lian, said. “He’s very important in our family. He’s nice, he’s so sweet and he loves his family also.”

The search for the missing fisherman was suspended around 10:15 p.m. Thursday and resumed Friday morning.

The area the group was fishing in is private property, authorities say. No criminal charges are expected to be filed.
