FISHERS, Ind. — Fishers Police said a child fired a loaded gun that was left in a sofa at the IKEA in Fishers.

A man went into the store at around 2 p.m. Monday and sat down on a sofa. When he got up, his handgun fell out of his pants and was left behind, said Sgt. Tom Weger, spokesperson for Fishers Police.

A short time later, a group of young boys sat down on the sofa and found the gun and pulled the trigger.

“Officers arrived and located the owner of the firearm. He cooperated with the officers,” said Weger. “He did not realize the gun was still in the couch.”

“Nobody was injured. But, we have collected all the evidence and witness statements and we will be forwarding all that information to the prosecutor’s office for their review.”
