INDIANAPOLIS–A house caught on fire early this morning in Indianapolis.

The Indianapolis Fire Department says it happened around 5 am at a vacant double residence on Tacoma Avenue just north of Washington Street on the east side.

When crews got there, the stairs on the north side of the home were burned out and access to the second floor had to be using the south side stars.

The fire was under control in less than 30 minutes.

No one was injured. Washington Street was closed in both directions for over an hour and a half because of the fire.

Firefighters are still trying to figure out what caused the fire. Estimated damage is $40,000.
