INDIANAPOLIS—A woman and a child are both dead from what police in Indianapolis believe was a murder-suicide.

Officers with the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department were called to the 3600 of Bunker Hill Drive around 2:45 p.m. on a report of shots fired. That’s near East 42nd Street and North Sherman Drive.

They found the body of a woman and a girl who was a minor.

Officer Michael Hewitt with IMPD says the crime scene indicates that it was “more than likely” a murder-suicide.

“Apparently some family members came to check on them. They hadn’t heard from them in a few days. Maintenance let the family in. When the family went in, they found the deceased inside,” Hewitt said.

Police do not know what the relationship was between the woman and the girl.  They are still trying to determine the motive behind the shooting.
