INDIANAPOLIS–At least three cars were hit by bullets Monday night, at one of the city’s busiest interchanges. State Police Sgt. John Perrine said one of the cars had the back window shot out and a bullet hole in the rear door. He said it was not a random attack.

The incident happened at I-465 and Shadeland Ave.

“We don’t believe this was a random attack of people shooting at cars. We believe this was a targeted attack at another individual,” said Perrine, after troopers spent a good portion of the night and Tuesday, interviewing people who were involved.

He said that besides the first car they found when they were called out just before midnight, two other cars with bullet holes were located. Perrine did not specify where those cars were hit.

He said two of the cars involved had people in them who were shooting at each other. Other cars that were hit were collateral damage.

“It’s really unfortunate and scary for people that live in that area and drive in that area that people are carelss and reckless and would do something like this,” said Perrine.

He said state police will keep at it until they find who’s responsible.
