FORT WAYNE, Ind. — What this couple thought was a 4th of July firework going off, turned out to be something completely different.

Kirsten Lansaw and her husband were leaving downtown Fort Wayne Wednesday night when they heard a “loud pop” says WPTA

They thought it was a firework but quickly discovered that wasn’t the case when Kirsten began bleeding from the top of her head.

Police said they found a hole in the top of the Jeep where a bullet went through. They say the Jeep’s hard top slowed the bullet down enough to save Kirsten’s life.

Kirsten was discharged from the hospital Thursday morning, as police continue to investigate the situation.

Travis told WPTA, “”I really want people to realize that just because it’s a holiday doesn’tt give u [sic] the right to shoot a deadly foreign object in the sky without knowing the vicinity of where it will fall. Make good choices.”
