CARMEL, Ind. — An assistant swimming coach at Carmel High School is accused of recording himself having sex with one of his athletes.
John Goelz, 29, is facing federal charges of sexual exploitation and child porn possession, according to U.S Attorney Josh Minkler. Investigators say they learned of the relationship between he and a female member of the Carmel swim team back in June.
Text messages found on Goelz’s found indicate the the relationship started back in February of this year. Investigators also found a video on his cell phone of a sexual encounter with him and the young girl at a hotel in Anderson.
They also believe the two had sex in public parks in Hamilton County and at Goelz’s home in Carmel.
He was arrested on Tuesday and a hearing is scheduled for July 10th.
