INDIANAPOLIS — About an hour after an alert was raised, the all-clear was given near the downtown Indianapolis post office after a suspicious device ended up being just trash.

A security officer with the post office found the device near the side of the building, a spokesperon with the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department told WIBC news-gathering partner RTV6.

Part of the post office and part of the Rolls Royce building were evacuated and South Street between Capitol and Illinois was closed to pedestrian and vehicle traffic.

IMPD gave the all-clear at around 12:30 p.m. after determining that the suspicious item was just trash.
