WASHINGTON — President Trump said Tuesday that he accepts the U.S. intelligence community’s conclusion that Russia meddled in the 2016 U.S. elections.

At yesterday’s joint press conference with Russian President Vladimir Putin, the President said Putin told him Russia didn’t meddle, and Trump said he “doesn’t see any reason why it would be” the Russians.

Reading from a prepared statement, Trump told reporters he dropped the word “not” and that he meant to say he “doesn’t see any reason why it would not be” the Russians.

Trump added he accepts the U.S. intelligence community’s conclusion that Russia meddled, but there was no collusion with the Russians.

The President made his remarks during a photo-op of a meeting with some congressional Republicans.
