DETROIT — Got a Ford in the garage? A gearshift problem could cause your ride to roll away, even if you’ve put it in park.

Ford is recalling 550,000 Fusions and Escapes made between 2013 and 2016 because a shifter bushing could fall off. If this happens, the driver could shift into park but the vehicle could be in another gear and roll away.

Ford says it doesn’t know of any injuries or crashes caused by the issue.

Owners of a recalled Fusion or Escape will receive a notice from the carmaker by July 30.

Dealers will replace the shifter bushing for free, but parts will not be available for another month or two. In the meantime, Ford suggests drivers use their parking brake when parking their car.
