WASHINGTON — The Trump administration says it will give up to 12-billion-dollars in aid to farmers affected by tariffs.
Secretary of Agriculture Sonny Perdue said Tuesday the emergency aid package will use existing funding to mitigate the estimated $11 billion impact of “illegal tariffs” other countries have imposed on US agriculture exports.
Calling it a short-term solution, Secretary Perdue said the Trump administration was working on long-term trade deals.
The aid package will not need congressional approval.
