SPENCER COUNTY, Ind. — A southern Indiana animal shelter is accused of euthanizing animals by freezing them to death.

Former employees of the Spencer County Animal Shelter tell WFIE-TV in Evansville that unwanted cats were put in a freezer to die.

WFIE reached out to the shelter for their side of the story. Shelter officials say “no comment.”

The Sheriff’s Office is investigating and has turned the case over to the county prosecutor. As of Monday afternoon, charges have not been filed.

The shelter’s Facebook page has been deactivated.
