President Donald Trump revoked former-CIA Director John Brennan’s security clearance and warned he may do the same to other former officials.

A statement read by the White House press secretary, Sarah Huckabee Sanders, accused Brennan of having “leveraged” access to highly sensitive information to make a series of “unfounded and outrageous” allegations.

“Mr. Brennan’s lying and recent conduct characterized by increasingly frenzied commentary is wholly inconsistent with access to the nations’ most closely held secrets,” the statement attributed to Trump said.

Brennan, who has been a vocal critic of President Trump over his alleged ties to the Kremlin, said Trump was trying to “suppress freedom of speech and punish critics.”

WIBC host Tony Katz commented on Trump’s actions and the subsequent fallout from the decision Thursday:

“I said when this happened that you don’t go into this quickly. Taking away a security clearance is a big deal, and sometimes the current team needs to talk with the old team to get up to speed.

John Brennan is a different subject because John Brennan is a known liar.”
