CHESTERTON, Ind. — Two boys from the Chicago area have died after investigators say they drowned in two separate incidents at Indiana Dunes State Park.

Conversation officers say Joshua Torres, 10, was found face down about 40 yards from the shore at the park Saturday afternoon.  He was taken to Porter Regional Hospital where he later died according to the Times of Northwest Indiana.

About an hour later, Malik Freeman, 14, of Aurora, Illinois, was pulled from the water and taken to Comer Children’s Hospital where he was pronounced dead Sunday morning.

The Indiana Department of Natural Resources says restrictions were in place at the park allowing people to swim only in waist-deep water.

Police are investigating both of those incidents.
