MONROE COUNTY, Ind. — A missing squirrel hunter from Indianapolis has been found.

George Kuntz, 71, of Indianapolis, was reunited with his family this morning, almost 24 hours after he went missing while squirrel hunting in Hoosier National Forest.

Kuntz was “thirsty and turned around” but in “good health”, the Indiana Department of Natural Resources said Monday.

Kuntz went squirrel hunting Sunday morning and didn’t return to his campground, prompting concerned family members to contact Indiana DNR.

State conservation officers, members of the Indiana State Police, and local police and firefighters searched during the day Sunday and overnight.

The search continued Monday morning. Kuntz was found and reunited with his family at around 11 a.m., according to Indiana DNR.
