WASHINGTON, D.C. — It’s no secret that Indiana’s Republican Senator Todd Young supports the confirmation of Brett Kavanaugh to the U.S. Supreme Court.

Speaking on the Senate floor today, Young made his point more abundantly clear, calling Judge Kavanaugh’s qualifications “undeniable” and that Kavanaugh struck him as “a man of integrity.”

“He has shown, by the record, that he understands the judge’s role is to apply the law as it is written,” Sen. Young said. “It’s not to impose his own policy preferences.”

“After carefully reviewing Judge Kavanaugh’s record I am confident he’ll be faithful to the constitution and will preserve the integrity of the Supreme Court.”

Young’s counterpart in the Senate, Sen. Joe Donnelly (D), met with Kavanaugh last week. He was one of only a handful of Senate Democrats who agreed to meet with Kavanaugh.

“This was an important opportunity to sit down and talk in-depth with Judge Kavanaugh,” Donnelly said. “I take my responsibility as Senator to consider Supreme Court nominees very seriously. Hoosiers rightly expect careful and thoughtful consideration of a nomination to our nation’s highest court.”

Donnelly said he would make his decision on how he will vote on Kavanaugh after his confirmation in September.
