INDIANAPOLIS — Marion County’s primary emergency radio system is back on line and operational, according to IFD Battalion Chief and spokesperson Rita Reith.

A system failure Wednesday morning left Marion Co. dispatchers unable to communicate with each other with people in the field.

IFD and Indy Metro Police switched to their backup radio systems while Marion Co. Public Safety Communications looked into what happened and made necessary repairs.

911 service was not affected by the outage.

County officials have not given a reason for the outage.
