CARMEL, Ind. — A mural for Carmel’s Midtown North parking garage will cost the city just over $42,000.

A Tennessee-based artist named Lucie Rice came up with an image of Midtown that features the Monon Trail, the city’s water tower, and several prominent buildings.

The Carmel Redevelopment Commission liked Rice’s artwork so much that it paid $7,500 for the rights to use it, according to IndyStar.

The 30-foot-square image will be painted on the building’s south facade by Indy-based Olson Paint Studios. The commission will pay Olson $34,525 for the work, IndyStar reports.

Work is expected to begin next month and should be finished by November.
