FRANKLIN, Ind. – A Columbus man accused of inappropriately touching himself while sitting in a parked car outside an elementary school in Whiteland has been sentenced to more than a year in prison.

According to the Daily Journal, James Snodgrass, 63, pleaded guilty to public indecency after prosecutors say he was spotted by a Whiteland Elementary School employee with his genitals exposed while sitting in his car outside the school in Aug. 2017.

Immediately after the incident, the school also was temporarily put on lockdown and a letter was sent to notify parents.

Investigators say Snodgrass was a registered sex offender until 2015 after he had completed parole for a prior conviction.  According to court records, he had previously been arrested for public indecency, sexual misconduct with a minor and incest.

Snodgrass has been sentenced to 400 days in prison.
