MUNCIE, Ind. — A crowd standing outside of Be Here Now in Muncie may not want to be there again.

Keith Childress, 29, ran his white Dodge Charger into a crowd of people standing in the parking lot near the building on Dill Street, Saturday.

The Muncie Star Press says Childress ran his car into at least three people after an earlier argument between him and others at a nearby Brothers Bar and Grill.

An officer who watched the cellphone video of the car hitting the victims told the Star Press he “observed the Charger back up and turn towards the victims,” before accelerating towards them and striking them before leaving the scene.

Police say people involved in the incident weren’t seriously hurt, and the car was found, unoccupied, after it crashed into a wall.

Police identified Childless as a suspect  from surveillance footage from Brothers, and Childress turned himself in early Monday.

Childress has been preliminarily charged with aggravated battery, leaving the scene of an accident, criminal recklessness with a vehicle, resisting law enforcement and reckless driving. He’s being held under a $73,500 bond.
