In his historic run for Senate against Ted Cruz, Texas Democrat Beto O’Rourke has not shied away from discussing his arrest for drunk driving in September 1998.

Yes, he made a mistake, and yes, he’s sorry. In fact, he’s really, really, really, really, REALLY sorry.

Unfortunately for Mr. O’Rourke, the fine investigative journalists of America decided to dig into the dirty details of that arrest, and it turns out old Beto might have been a little less than forthright in his description of the event.

A new story in the Houston Chronicle claims that records show O’Rourke was not only nabbed for driving under the influence; he caused what could have been a catastrophic accident and tried to flee the scene.

WIBC hosts the Chicks on the Right talked about Beto’s embarrassing little omission during Tuesday’s show:

Daisy:

“So are how are people spinning this? ‘Well, he was drunk.’”

Mock:

“I’m a little disturbed by how many people actually like this Beto guy. He tried to flee the scene! And he’s saying it was just a youthful indiscretion, but he was 26 years old!”

Daisy:

“And of course he’s trying to play it off like these details don’t matter, right?”

Mock:

“Exactly. If they didn’t matter than why didn’t you reveal the full extent of what happened before you were outed by the Houston Chronicle? It’s the details that get you in the end, Beto!.”
