Mural of Reggie Miller to be Painted in Downtown Indianapolis
INDIANAPOLIS—A mural of former Indiana Pacer star Reggie Miller will be painted on a building in downtown Indianapolis.
Artist Pamela Bliss is painting the mural and hopes to have it done by the Pacers first game in mid-October.
“I’m in a tight parking lot so I have the challenge of maneuvering around in a tight space,” Bliss told RTV6. “You’re dealing with the weather, the elements, the heat and rain.”
The mural will occupy a 60-foot by 15-foot windowless margin on the east side of a building nicknamed “the Mich” at 127 E. Michigan St.
Miller played 18-season for the Pacers and is the team’s all-time scorer. Miller retired in 200. He was inducted into the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame in 2012.
Bliss has plenty of experience with building murals. She’s made one of Hoosier author Kurt Vonnegut on Massachusetts Avenue.
The idea for a mural came from Ben Jafari. He’s a real estate developer who owns the East Michigan Street building.
