PUTNAM COUNTY, Ind.--A man tried to get away from police officers on a motorcycle and got arrested Wednesday.

Indiana State Police say they tracked a 2016 Yamaha motorcycle driven by Andrew French of Plainfield, 26, on westbound U.S. 40 going 74 miles per hour in a 55 mile per hour zone.

When a state trooper tried to stop him, French hit the gas and reached speeds near 100 miles per hour at times in the pursuit.

French didn’t make the turn correctly near County Road 550 South and went off the road. He was arrested shortly afterwards.

French was taken to the Putnam County Jail on charges of resisting law enforcement with a vehicle (felony) and reckless driving (misdemeanor).
