Governor Eric Holcomb is under heavy criticism following the passage of a $1 billion infrastructure project for the state of Indiana that many critics have dubbed a “war on truckers.”

The Next Level Connections Project has been touted as a major benefit to all Hoosiers , but the money for that project has to come from somewhere. In order to get that $1 billion in the next couple of years, Indiana Toll Road prices are going up, but only for truck drivers.

“This is not passenger cars,” Governor Holcomb told WIBC hosts Hammer and Nigel in an exclusive interview. “This is, again, axles 3, 4 and 5.”

WIBC host Tony Katz noted that while the Governor has been very clear about the benefits to Hoosier motorists, his argument against critics of the project lacks merit:

“The Governor pointed out to Hammer and Nigel that while the rates for Indiana toll roads are going up, we’re still lower than Illinois. That is not an argument. I don’t think you can walk into a bar and get a girl to go home with you using that line. That is a line, but it’s not real, it’s not factual.

You haven’t done enough cutting to bring about the $1 billion dollar tax increase. This is why you have to be paying attention on the local level. This is why you have to be paying attention on the state level.”
