Buffalo Bills cornerback Vontae Davis left the field at halftime Sunday in a game against the Los Angeles Chargers and never came back.

The two-time Pro Bowl cornerback made the decision to retire at halftime instead of sticking around for the team’s 31-20 loss. Buffalo head coach Sean McDermott confirmed that Davis left.

Davis later apologized to his teammates, saying he “meant no disrespect,” but decided on the field that he “didn’t feel right.”

WIBC host Tony Katz:

“This is unbelievable and it’s completely disrespectful to his team. This is Cougar losing the edge in Top Gun and Maverick has to guide him in. And the best is that someone went back into his old tweets, including one in which he said ‘the people in life who succeed are the ones who don’t quit.”
