UPDATE: The Marion County Coroner’s Office has identified the woman as Diamond Brewer, 22.

INDIANAPOLIS–A woman was hit by a car and killed after getting off an IndyGo bus late Monday night.

Police say she was hit around 9:45 near the intersection of 34th and Meridian just outside of Shortridge High School.

After leaving the bus, the woman and another man walked behind the bus to cross the street. As they were crossing, a red Dodge Charger hit the woman and dragged her about 50 feet before she fell off the Dodge and was thrown into a construction zone.

Emergency responders rushed her to a hospital, but she did not survive.

Officers are now looking for the person who hit her. They believe the Charger has damage on the front of the car.

If you have any information, be sure to call Crimestoppers at 317-262-TIPS.
