STATEWIDE — A new poll shows a four-point lead for Republican candidate Mike Braun over Democrat incumbent Joe Donnelly in Indiana’s race for U.S. Senate.
That poll, released Tuesday morning by IndyPolitics.org and Mason Strategies, shows Braun leading Donnelly 47-43 percent. Libertarian candidate Lucy Brenton has three percent while seven percent are still undecided.
The poll was conducted among 600 likely Hoosier voters between Oct. 15-21 and has a margin of error of nearly four percent.
Abdul Hakim-Shabazz with 93 WIBC and IndyPolitics.org says the Senate race is still too close to call.
“If I can use a basketball analogy, it’s still ‘jump ball’, but the referee titled the ball a hair towards Mike Braun,” says Hakim-Shabazz.
IndyPolitics.org adds that the poll shows a 29-percent gender gap among likely men voters between the two candidates. Men prefer Braun 55-39, while women prefer Donnelly 49 to 39 percent.
Braun also leads 83 to 7-percent among those who approve of President Trump. However, Donnelly leads 84 to 6 among those who do not.
The final debate between the U.S. Senate candidates is set for Oct. 30.
The midterm election is Nov. 6.
