INDIANAPOLIS — President Donald Trump will be in Indianapolis this weekend to speak at the annual National FFA Convention.
The President is expected to speak at the closing session of the convention, which will begin about 1:30 p.m. Trump was expected to speak around 3 p.m.
The convention, expecting more than 65,000 people, begins Wednesday with a parade on Georgia Street. Musician Garth Brooks is scheduled to perform Wednesday night for FFA members.
The FFA event is one of the largest conventions hosted in downtown Indianapolis, having a $40 million economic impact and bringing people to stay in more than 120 hotels. Its venues include Bankers Life Fieldhouse, the Indiana Convention Center and other locations.
Trump will speak at Bankers Life Fieldhouse. The event is closed to the public.
According to the FFA, the last President to speak at its convention was George H.W. Bush in 1991. Vice President Mike Pence spokes at last year’s convention.
The National FFA Organization provides leadership, personal growth and career success training through agricultural education to 669,989 student members who belong to one of 8,630 local FFA chapters throughout the U.S., Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands.
