MADISON COUNTY, Ind.-A crash on I-69 at the SR 9 exit north of Pendleton resulted in a large fire that closed the southbound lanes for several hours Tuesday.

State police say a Penske box truck pulling a car on a trailer turned over and caught fire around 6. The driver of the truck Robert Koths, 55, of Dearborn, Michigan and his passenger got out of the truck with only minor injuries.

Crews had to clear debris while state transportation workers repaired guardrails and a bridge.

South bound traffic had to be diverted off onto SR 109 at the 226 mile marker, as firefighters put out the fire. Those I-69 south bound lanes were closed for over five hours.
