LOGANSPORT, Ind.–An accidental shooting is what killed a 3-year-old boy Thursday afternoon.

Logansport Police Lt. A.J. Rozzi told the Pharos-Tribune the boy’s father was helping someone lay flooring inside the home, and the shooting happened while the two were out gathering supplies.

Police say an adult babysitter was watching the child at the time and was not aware that there were guns in the house.

Police say the gun the boy used was a semi-automatic and there only appeared to be one gunshot wound.

The boy was flown to a hospital in Indianapolis, but medical personnel could not save him.
