MATTHEWS, N.C. — A student is dead after a shooting at a high school in North Carolina.
The Matthews Police Department said a student was shot by a classmate at Butler High School on Monday morning.
The student was taken to the hospital, where he died of his injuries, reports WSOC-TV in Charlotte.
The shooter is in police custody but has not been identified.
Butler High School and the town of Matthews are roughly 12 miles southeast of Charlotte.
