INDIANAPOLIS — If you get your power through IPL, be prepared — your monthly bill is about to go up.
That’s because IPL’s proposed rate hike was approved Wednesday by the Indiana Utility Regulatory Commission.
Most IPL customers will be paying $5.18 more per month by the end of 2018. Customers who use a lot of electricity — more than 1,000 kWh per month — will be charged more.
The extra money will be used to replace an old coal plant with a new, more efficient natural gas plant.
