ATLANTA, Ind. — The sheriff’s office said deputies are investigating a fatal crash on U.S. 31 in northern Hamilton County. 

The crash was reported about 1:45 p.m. Wednesday on U.S. 31 between 286th and 296th streets. The crash had closed travel in both directions on the highway, which is about six miles west of the town of Atlanta, Indiana. The road was reopened about 4 p.m. 

Indiana Department of Transportation indicated the crash involved a semitractor-trailer. 

Hamilton County Sheriff’s Department leaders did not immediately respond to an email and phone calls seeking further information.
