INDIANAPOLIS — The president of the Indianapolis Public Schools teachers union has resigned over allegations of misappropriating more than $100,000

A complaint was filed in June of 2018 with the Indiana State Teachers Association over the concerns of operations with the Indianapolis Education Association. An internal investigation led officials to mismanagement and misappropriation of over $100,000 in funds by IEA president Rhondalyn Cornett.

The mishandling of funds spanned over several years.

Cornett’s resignation was effective November 8 after complying with demands from the association to step down.

The Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department is aware of Cornett’s actions after they were informed by ISTA. It is not yet known if she will face any charges.

Newly elected IEA President Ronald Swann will assume the position in the interim.
