SNL’s Pete Davidson offered an in-person apology to Dan Crenshaw, the former Navy SEAL and newly elected Republican representative from Texas’s 2nd Congressional District, whom Davidson had previously said looked like “a hit man from a porno movie.”
Crenshaw wears an eye patch after losing an eye in an IED explosion during his third tour in Afghanistan.
The televised apology, in which Davidson called Crenshaw a “war hero,” went viral, with people on both sides of the aisle praising the show and the congressman-elect for accepting the invitation.
WIBC host Tony Katz said SNL handled the apology well.
“I’m going to disagree with a lot of people on SNL about their politics, but that was well done. We should say so.”
