INDIANAPOLIS — An Avon man who admitted to killing a woman in the gym of a downtown apartment complex will spend the next few decades behind bars.
Cody Weir, 26, was sentenced Tuesday for the murder of 23-year-old Carina Rodriguez.
A Marion County judge initially sentenced Weir to 55 years in prison, but suspended five years and ordered Weir to spend another five years in community corrections.
Rodriguez was found dead in the gym at the 9 on Canal apartments in October 2017.
Surveillance video showed that Weir got out of his car, walked to the gym, and knocked on the door. When Rodriguez let him inside, Weir stabbed her in the neck, cutting an artery and her esophagus.
