INDIANAPOLIS – More than 100,000 people are expected in downtown Indianapolis for the 56th annual lighting of the “tree” with the Circle of Lights celebration.

 

The event starts at 6 p.m. Friday featuring a special guest appearance and performance by Josh Kaufman, the Season 6 winner of “The Voice.”

 

Santa Claus will be among the dignitaries who flip the switch at around 7:55 p.m. on the Monument which features more than 4,700 lights and is more than 240 feet tall.

 

The monument will remain lit until Jan. 12.

 

Downtown Indianapolis will also be busy on Friday, Nov. 23 because of two big sporting events. 

 

The Indiana Pacers host the San Antonio Spurs at Bankers Life Fieldhouse starting at 8 p.m. 

 

At Lucas Oil Stadium, it’s the IHSAA high school football championships featuring the Class 6A matchup between Warren Central and Carmel High School.  The kickoff of the 6A game starts at 7 p.m.
