WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. — More than 300 jobs are coming to West Lafayette as a digital agriculture company looks to work closely with Purdue University.

Solinftec, which is based in the South American country of Brazil, will establish it’s new U.S. headquarters at the Purdue Research Park and create all 334 jobs by 2022. The company provides Internet-based technology to provide farmers with real-time data.

“We were mind blown by the quality of the people and the institution. It makes a lot of sense for us,” said Solinftec spokesman Renato Hersz. “At Purdue we are in the mid of cornland, you look around you see corn everywhere. Here we have fantastic access to talent so it is the best of both worlds.”

Purdue President Mitch Daniels says the move is the latest evidence of the school “becoming a world center of precision agriculture.” The company says it will hire in positions including sales, information technology, data scientists, engineers and agronomists beginning early next year.
