ELKHART, Ind. — An off-duty Elkhart police officer was arrested and charged Tuesday for driving under the influence.
Corporal Scott Haigh crashed into another car at 3rd and Franklin Streets at around 2:30 p.m. Tuesday, the Elkhart Police Department said.
Responding officers believed Haigh might be drunk or on drugs and asked Elkhart County Sheriff’s deputies to give him a field sobriety test.
Haigh failed the test and was arrested for operating a while under the influence of a controlled substance, a misdemeanor.
Haigh joined the Elkhart Police Department in 2009.
