(INDIANAPOLIS) – Indiana’s Senate race will leave three members of Indiana’s congressional delegation out of work in two weeks, when the new Congress is sworn in.
Joe Donnelly’s been in Washington for 12 years — first in the House, then in the Senate. He says he hasn’t given any thought to the possibility of running for office again, and says Senate ethics rules prohibit him from accepting any jobs till he leaves office. For now, he says he’s focused on averting a government shutdown — after that, he says he’ll be doing his Tim Allen impression, painting the house and taking down the Christmas tree.
Senator-elect Mike Braun’s victory ended not only Donnelly’s term but those of Representatives Luke Messer and Todd Rokita, who lost to Braun in the primary. Braun and new Representatives Jim Baird and Greg Pence will be sworn in January 3.
