COLUMBUS, Ind. — Two Columbus Police officers are being investigated by the Indiana State Police after they were accused of working a second job while claiming they were also working at that same time for the department.

WCSI reports that the two officers involved are Dan Meister and Ron May.

“We were notified of these allegations in September and once we were notified an internal investigation was initiated,” says Columbus Police Lt. Matt Harris.

“[Columbus Police&#93 contacted the Indiana State Police to inquire if they would conduct an additional investigation, which they agreed to do so, and that is ongoing at this time,” confirms Lt. Harris.

Meister took a position of patrol officer after he had been previous held the rank of lieutenant.  Meister has been with the department for 22 years.

Ron May has agreed to retire from the department after 31 years.

Columbus Police have not released the findings of their internal investigation, nor have they said where the two officers may have been working when the claims were made against them.
