INDIANAPOLIS — For the first time since Bird and Lime scooters arrived in Indianapolis last fall, a scooter operator has been arrested for drunk driving.

Cole Dillon, 21, was arrested Tuesday night in downtown Indianapolis.

IMPD says Dillon failed to stop for a red light at the intersection of Washington and Pennsylvania Streets and was almost rear-ended by an IMPD officer. The cop had to slam on his brakes to avoid an accident, according to IMPD.

Dillon is charged with Operating While Intoxicated.

It’s illegal to operate a Bird or Lime scooter while drunk because the scooter is considered a vehicle.
