INDIANAPOLIS–For the second week in a row, significant snow is expected in Indiana. While it’s coming in on Saturday and many people will be at home, some people still have to work, and events are still planned. Whether those events go on still, is up to the weather, the event planners, and the authorities.

“Right now we’re just making sure we’re prepared,” said Maj. Brian Mahone, with the Indianapolis Dept. of Homeland Security.

Whether you live in Indianapolis or in the country, you face some of the trouble: driving.

“One of the things is driving, stuff like turning into the slide, making sure your gas taknk is at least half way full,” Mahone told WISH TV. “Sometimes condensation can get into a gas tank if you let it get too low and the temperatures drop.”

Mahone said if you don’t have to be on the road, stay at home so the roads are clear and plow drivers can do their job.

“It’s gonna take a lot longer to slow down . You’re gonna have to be patient. You’re gonna have to be extremely patient.”

Mahone said that whether events still happen is a decision made by the event organizers, and the Department of Homeland Security.

“We’re in contact with them to find out, what’s their plan, what does it look like, is the something we can safely do? We’re in contact with DPW to see if the roads are gonna be clear. What’s the hazard to the public?”
