EDINBURGH, Ind.–Rescue crews will continue searching for a person seen falling into the Big Blue River in Edinburgh Thursday afternoon.

The Johnson County Sheriff’s Office received a 911 call reporting the incident near State Road 252 and River Road at around 5.

The Indiana Department of Natural Resources (DNR) said a witness saw a person on top of the dam who then got into the water and was swept downstream.

He is a white man with blond hair and a thin build wearing blue jeans and a red shirt.

High water conditions prevented crews from getting into the water to search Thursday.  They searched for the man until late Thursday night and then had to call off the search when it was too dark.

The DNR says crews will resume rescue efforts Friday morning. They will search by watercraft, on foot and use drones.
