BLOOMINGTON, Ind. — An Indianapolis man is accused of breaking into John Mellencamp’s Monroe County home.

Robert Carter, of Indianapolis, broke into Mellencamp’s house at around 6 a.m. Thursday morning, according to the Monroe County Sheriff’s Department.

Carter told sheriff’s deputies he was there to arrest Mellencamp for supporting a government which Carter does not support.

Deputies say Carter admitted to kicking in the house’s door.

He was arrested and faces several charges, including burglary and criminal trespassing.

No one was home at the time of the burglary.
