BROWN COUNTY, Ind. — Flooding in Brown County caused major issues for drivers and business owners Thursday.

Flash flooding forced police to close down several roads. Parents had problems getting their kids picked up from school, and one woman said she could have been killed.

“I came out and the water was just everywhere,” said Debbie Guffey, owner of Brown County Tire and Auto Service off State Road 46. “We had to get out of there because the electricity was still on and we were getting shocked so we had to get out.”

Floodwaters overpowered the auto-parts store. Guffey says the flooding has probably caused around $60,000 in damage, and this isn’t the first time the store has been flooded. Guffey also told WISH-TV she doesn’t have flood insurance because shoe chose not to renew her insurance since she did not get paid out for the last time the store flooded.

Drivers were also having a tough time on Brown County roads, some of whom were parents who said they could not get to their kids’ elememtary schools because of the flooding.
