Trump 2016: “We will build a wall and Mexico will pay for it.”
Trump: 2018: “We will build a wall and if Congress won’t approve the initial $5.7 billion, then I’ll consider a national emergency.”
Trump 2019: “Licking Nancy Pelosi and Chuck Schumer’s feet is quite pleasurable.”
Washington lawmakers have tentatively agreed to $1.375 billion to construct “barriers” along the southern border (55 new miles of bollard fencing, with certain restrictions on location).
Just to jog your memory, Democrats originally offered $1.6 billion as a compromise in October 2018 to avoid a government shutdown.
So much for the “Great Negotiator.”
According to Decan Herald, “Senate and House negotiators from both parties held a closed-door meeting in Washington Monday, but did not comment on the details of the ‘deal’, saying the staff is still working on last-minute logistics.”
Last minute logistics? Like whether Trump will be required to wash Nancy Pelosi’s car AND give her a weekly footrub?
WIBC host Tony Katz:
“I don’t even know what to make of this. $1.375 billion for 55 miles of new border barrier? We could have gotten this without a shutdown. We’re better off with it than without it, but I still go back to what I said before, which is that we haven’t even determined that the majority of Americans want a border – there are those among us who absolutely, positively don’t.”
