WASHINGTON, D.C. — Congresswoman Ilhan Omar is firing back at President Trump after he called on her to resign.

In an interview on Wednesday while visiting Poland, Vice President Mike Pence called for the Minnesota Democrat to be held accountable for her allegedly anti-Semitic comments.

“Unless Representative Omar resigns from Congress. At minimum  she should be removed from the House Foreign Affairs Committee,” Pence said.

Omar tweeted that Trump has “trafficked in hate” his whole life. She also asked when Trump plans to resign. Omar apologized this week for suggesting that Republican support for Israel is fueled by donations from a prominent pro-Israel group. Her comment was seen by some as anti-Semitic.

Even some Democrat lawmakers, like House Speaker Nancy Pelosi and Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer said Omar was in the wrong.

“I think it was right for Democrat leaders to condemn those remarks,” Pence continued. “But I think it’s important that people who articulate anti-Semitic views are held accountable.”
